THIS IS A SAS DRIVE, NOT SATA. It requires a SAS HBA/RAID controller and SAS backplane or breakout cabling. It will NOT work plugged into a standard SATA port on a desktop motherboard or consumer NAS. Please verify your hardware before buying.

Capacity note, read before buying: these are Sun/Oracle OEM drives (HGST HUH728080AL5200 hardware, Oracle firmware). Oracle right-sizes them: the drive reports 7.87TB usable, not the full 8.0TB the label suggests. That is normal and permanent for this OEM variant, and the price reflects it. They are also formatted with Type 1 Protection Information (520-byte T10 PI); most HBAs handle this transparently, but if yours objects, a reformat to standard 512 blocks via sg_format resolves it.

Sun/Oracle branded 8TB helium enterprise drive, SAS 12Gb/s, 7200RPM, 3.5". Pulled from a low-stress storage array. Every drive in this lot passed a full SMART extended self-test (complete surface scan) with zero grown defects and zero uncorrected errors, then securely wiped. This model line got extra scrutiny in our testing and only clean units made this lot. Power-on hours vary: most units in this lot are under 2,100 hours, with a couple of higher-hours units (up to ~59,000) mixed in.
