Technical Description:

Acer 9000 Series
In the competition of XL notebooks for the largest display, HP sends the Pavilion HDX into the race. The 20-inch device tries to set itself apart from the already very sparse competition mainly with an innovative display opening mechanism - with huge success. The abbreviation HDX has become synonymous with innovative design. And with its Dragon-designed case, even externally indicate that this laptop has a lot to offer.
Ports
Front: 2 audio, 1 mic, 1 IR; connection equipment vo: 2 audio, 1 mic, 1 IR.
Right: 2 USB 2.0, Kensington Lock: 2 USB 2.0, Kensington Lock.
Left: 2 USB, 1 LAN, 1 expansion port, 1 VGA output, HDMI, eSATA, Firewire, card reader, ExpressCard slot.
Rear: Optical Audio Output and Input, S-Video, Antenna, Dolby Surround
Case
With the HDX, the American manufacturer Hewlett-Packard created a multi-media giant that leaves nothing to be desired in many ways. In terms of case and design, the 7.05 kg desktop replacement notebook sparkles in all directions. However, its continuous high-gloss appearance (except for the lower shell) gives it a clear design advantage over its colleagues. Everything is safely brewed in terms of workmanship. The folding technology of the display is an outstanding, albeit getting used to detail of the HDX. So this quirky solution brings the option to tilt the screen back without getting away from your eyes.
Features
In terms of connectivity, which is the ability to connect external devices to the HDX, the HP giant leaves little to be desired. Starting with its four USB 2.0 ports via a 4-pin fire wire (IEEE 1394) to an HDMI port for transmitting fully digital audio and video data, everything you need to work sensibly is installed. An eSata port, which allows external hard drives to be connected to the notebook via the faster SATA format, also joins the range of connections. In addition to all this, you can also connect the HP Pavilion HDX to a docking station via ExpansionPort. In terms of audio and video, there is also a lot going on: apart from the VGA port, which has already become standard in this class, and the S-Video TV output, a mic input, the antenna port and the headphone output, the configuration connections for the external speakers are worth mentioning: rear, middle/bottom, front & with a remote control orderable from HP that connects to the notebook via the infrared interface, the HDX becomes a Hi-Fi system replacement.
Input Devices
Due to the size of the base unit, you will find a numeric keypad on the HDX in addition to the standard version input keyboard, which makes writing a lot easier. The buttons are easy to press, do not rattle and look very well executed. Arranged above the function keys are blue, touch-sensitive additional buttons for sound control and for activating/deactivating the wireless LAN function. This design detail looks very effective on the high gloss finish. The fingerprint reader can also be found in this key bar. An IR remote can be embedded to the left of the standard keyboard. For docking, it is simply pressed into the holder, and a small mechanical release lever is operated to unlock and remove. At the bottom of the keyboard is the touchpad with a remote vertical scrollpad and two control keys. In any case, it is worth mentioning that the touchpad can be easily activated/deactivated with its own switch, which makes it unnecessary to search around the control panel.
