Apple or Macintosh RGB monitor video cable 15 to 9 pin. New old stock.
Price: US $12.00
Unusual 15 pin male (2 rows of pins) to 9 pin male (2 rows of pins) cable. Appears to possibly be a video cable for some Apple or Macintosh system(s). Possibly for 2GS. May be RGB cable. Please don't order this cable unless you recognize what it is for because we aren't sure and don't want to mislead anyone. If anyone out there recognizes what this cable is for please letus know. We have quite a few of these. We doubt that this is a VGA cable because VGA has 15 pins in 3 rows unlike this one which has 15 pins in just 2 rows. New old stock. 3 ft. long.Note: We have already sold 125 of these on over the past 12 or 15 years and just sold out of them earlier today (September 9th, 2019) on our original listing. However, we discovered that we had several more of these still available and are re-listing these additional cables here.

On Jan-21-09 at 03:51:18 PST, seller added the following information:

Note: One buyer of this cable told us that this is the cable for connecting an older Macintosh Performa computer to a standard Performa compatible monitor. We haven't been able to verify this independently but believe this customer is probably correct.Another customer told us the following:
I wanted to write to letyou know that this cable is not a straight up iigs connector. There is noconnection to pin 9 which is required for the iigs rgb. I modified mine, and itworks fine. Just wanted to let you know.A more recent customer provided the following information about this cable:

This cable appears to be for connecting an early color mac to standard NEC or Sony multisync external monitors with DB-9 connectors. The signal lines support high-speed >15khz RGB, which is approximately compatible with standard VGA signals with another adapter HD-15. The mac sync frequency is slightly higher than standard VGA so just connecting adapters in some situations to the early Trinitron based apple monitors will require a scan converter for traditional 15khz based RGB signals to be displayed like those found in the apple 2gs.
Another recent customer wanted to know if the two sides of each end of the cable are screwed together. He also wanted to know if we had some photos showing if they are screwed together. The answer is "yes" to both questions. I am adding two more photos today (September 19th, 2024) showing this. We don't have many of these remaining and I didn't want to open a new one to take photos. Therefore, I took photos with the cable still in the unopened (clear) package. I suppose this potential buyer may be interested in modifying the cable by taking one (or both) of the ends apart. I'm fairly sure this could be done with a precision screwdriver. I don't believe that the two sides of the each end of the cable are glued (as well as screwed) together. I think they are just screwed together. However, be advised that we do not recommend tampering with the cable ends (to make modifications) unless you are sure you know what you are doing. We don't accept responsibility for any cables which we sell which have been modified and/or for any potential damage which such modification might cause to any computer or monitor if modified. We just sell the cables but do not assume risk for any connecter hardware. However, we have sold hundreds of these cables over the past 15 years or so without any complaints.
Again, we have not been able to verify information provided by others here independently. Hopefully this information will help potential future buyers of this cable.
