The Magitronics & Western Digital ConnectionDuring the late 1980s clone boom, companies like Magitronics did not fabricate their own microchips. Instead, they built their motherboards and expansion cards using third-party component chipsets. The board is stamped Taiwan R.O.C. because Magitronics sourced its physical circuit boards from Taiwanese contractors, but it relies on Western Digital chips.Because it was manufactured in Taiwan for Magitronics, it clones the legendary architecture of Western Digital's own WD1003V or WD1006V series controller cards. Magitronics included this exact card in their late-1980s AT-class desktop computers (like 286 and 386 IBM clones) to allow the main computer to talk to its storage drives.I had this in a 286 many many years ago, and retired it to storage, when the computer was upgraded. Doesn't look like I will ever be using it again, but if you need it, you can buy it.
It supports TWO floppy drives and TWO MFM Hard Drives.
I took the Magitronic sticker off because I was hoping to see a WDC part number under it. There was not.
