• Originally purchased directly from Western Digital distribution for our PC production.
• These drives had relatively little use — we had an aggressive upgrade program so most drives were upgraded after only 12 to 24 months. The drives removed by our service dept during these routine upgrades have been in protected storage, undisturbed for decades.
• Drive is quiet, no unusual noises.
• Drive has been fully wiped and reformatted.
• MS-DOS 6.22 freshly installed.
• NOTE: This drive has some bad sectors, but luckily all are on the innermost cylinders (which is common, as the inner cylinders are slower and have the highest density). Solution: The cylinder count has been reduced slightly to exclude the defective inner cylinders. Only the flawless outer cylinders are used in the format. This reduces the overall capacity slightly, but has the added benefit of faster average data transfer rates. The revised CHS = 2086/16/63.
• Scandisk surface scan shows zero errors (see screenshot).
• Chkdsk shows zero bad sectors (see screenshot).
• Should boot right up in any compatible system.
• Clean, NEAR MINT condition.
