Vintage Expert Astronomer 'Explore The Night Sky On Your PC' 1991 3.5" + 5.25" floppy disks. Condition is "Acceptable".
This is an early but quite comprehensive astronomy program for personal computer. Written by Brian McMillin and published by Expert Software in 1991. This title had a fairly long life, with enhancements of course, and later versions were published on CD-Rom and for Windows.
From the box [I don't have one I'm afraid]: "Explore the night sky on your PC." Now you can turn your PC into a map of the night sky. Learn about the fascinating science of Astronomy.Displays the sky for the user's location and time.
Look up star or planet names by selecting with mouse or keypad.
Displays constellation outlines and names.
Contains "An Introduction to Astronomy," a written guide.
After reading Introduction, you can take advantage of advanced features of the program, such as adjusting the drive for Sidereal, Solar, Lunar, or Fixed Mount; or displaying stars of only certain magnitudes; and many more capabilities.
Expert Astronomer is easy to use, with pulldown menus that work with mouse or keyboard. There is pop-up help support and users with VGA have full control over the color palette.
A very capable program for both the novice and the expert as well.
Individual star names, Yale catalog numbers and planet names for over 9000 celestial objects [Pluto will still be a planet!!]
Move view field, change direction, zoom, in or out.
Display star movement and trails, set rate for passage of time.

I expect you will need a very old PC [PC, XT, AT or PS/2] or use DOSBox to install and use this program.
I also wonder if there are any Y2K issues which would keep it from working properly in this century. For the terminally curious, it's almost worth buying this gem and checking that out - come on give it a try!!
Please see pictures for the exact items included in the sale. Best of luck to all.
