Sun Microsystems Ultra 30 Creator 3D vintage workstation
This is a Sun Ultra 30 workstation with the Creator 3D badge. It is being sold as-is for parts, repair, or restoration. Please read the testing details and review all photos before purchasing.
What we verified:
* The workstation powers on and produces a picture on a monitor.
* The OpenBoot startup screen identifies an UltraSPARC-II 296 MHz processor and 512 MB of installed memory.
* Graphics hardware is detected during startup.
* A hard drive is physically present inside the system. Its capacity and operation have not been verified.
* The CD-ROM tray opens and closes. Reading discs was not tested.
Startup issue and testing limits:
During startup, the screen reports “Incorrect configuration checksum” and “The IDPROM contents are invalid.” The system reaches this screen but did not respond to keyboard input during our attempts to continue testing. We could not access the OpenBoot command prompt or confirm whether an operating system is installed or boots. The cause of the issue has not been diagnosed, and the workstation may require service or additional repairs.
The hard drive, CD-ROM reading function, network connection, audio, expansion slots, rear ports, and other functions were not tested. Please do not assume they are working based on the power-on test.
Physical condition:
The exterior shows age-related discoloration, dust, scuffs, and marks from use. There is dust inside the workstation. The inside of the removable cover has visible rust, as shown in the photos. We opened the case for photographs but did not clean or repair the system. Please examine the close-up photos of the case, interior, drive area, labels, and startup screen to judge its condition.
Included: The Sun Ultra 30 workstation and its installed components shown in the photos. The monitor, keyboard, and testing cables are not included. No software, discs, or additional accessories are included.
This is a vintage item with a known startup error. It is sold as pictured, for parts or repair.
