Vintage Sun Microsystems Model 611 external SCSI tape drive with Exabyte Eliant 820 8mm drive. Sun part number 599-2147-01; internal drive part number 370-2881-04.
The unit powers on. We inserted an 8mm data cartridge; the drive pulled it in and the mechanism operated for a short time. The cartridge did not eject promptly, but it eventually ejected on its own. Green indicator lights illuminate, and the red indicator also illuminates at times. We did not hear any unusual grinding or other abnormal mechanical noises during this limited test.
The drive was not connected to a computer, and its ability to read, write, and reliably eject tapes has not been verified. Because of the delayed ejection and incomplete testing, it is sold as-is for parts or repair. Cosmetic condition is shown in the photos. Only the items shown in the listing photos are included.
