🆕 Why "Brand New, Opened Once"?
RayHunter firmware can't be pre-loaded at the factory — it has to be flashed onto each device individually. To get this tool onto a brand-new unit, the box is opened just long enough to:
- Flash the current RayHunter release onto the device
- Verify the green/red detection display is working correctly
- Confirm the SIM is seated and the device powers on properly
The device itself has never been used for cellular service or carried — it's new hardware, freshly configured.
🛡️ What is RayHunter?
RayHunter is a free, open-source tool created by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) designed to detect IMSI catchers — also known as Stingrays or cell-site simulators. These are surveillance devices sometimes used to intercept mobile communications by mimicking a legitimate cell tower.
RayHunter monitors the cellular signals around you and alerts you when suspicious activity is detected:

- 🔴 Red line on display = Potential IMSI catcher / cell-site simulator detected
