Up for sale is a rare vintage NEC PC-8801MC main unit and CD-ROM drive set.
Please note that the monitor used in the photos is for testing purposes only and is not included.
[Condition & Operational Status]
- Tested and working properly with floppy disk software and CD-ROM games.
- Keyboard operation, joystick operation, video output, and sound output have all been verified without issues.
- Light maintenance performed: drive head cleaned, and the CD-ROM drive gear replaced with a brand new one for optimal performance.
- Internal battery has not been replaced. An error message indicating low battery will appear upon initial boot-up, but you can continue using the system normally.
- Main unit shows some yellowing/discoloration due to age, as shown in the photos.
This is a very rare and collectible piece of Japanese retro computing history.
