IMPORTANT: This item is intended only for those familiar with Promise Technology’s Pegasus32 system. This item is not intended for anyone unfamiliar with the concept of physical drives, disk arrays, logical drives, and RAID configurations.
MINT CONDITION AND PERFECT WORKING ORDER
100% perfect working condition with no cosmetic blemishes. This unit was used for archive storage and therefore the drives were infrequently accessed. Reformatted just minutes ago in prep for sale. I am selling 2 of these identical units.
Please review the provided photos and check my response. I upgrade my tech often so there is a good amount of history with me selling tech including at least one time I sold a similar Pegasus32 unit.
DETAILS
Promise Technology Pegasus32 R6 84TB Thunderbolt 3 RAID Storage System
Current formatted as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended, Journaled)
Includes 6 x 14TB Toshiba physical drives (MGO7ACA14TE)= 84TB total capacity Disk Array
If you keep it configured as RAID5 =70TB usable capacity. In this configuration, you are protected from a single drive failure. If instead you want 84TB of usable disk space, you will want to use the Promise Utility app to configure the unit as RAID0.
Note: On some Macs you will need to install the Promise Tech DEXT driver before Mac OS can recognize the unit. This driver is freely available on Promise’s website along with detailed instructions. I am almost certain I did not have to install a driver on my newer M-based Mac and instead the Pegasus32 was fully recognized as a proper Thunderbolt storage device. I believe all Silicon based Macs need the DEXT installed and only M-based Macs if you are running an old version of Mac OS (and why would you do that).Again, if the idea of following instructions to install a DEXT driver concerns you – DO NOT BUY THIS.I did not use this on my Windows machine, but of course it’s compatible with Windows after you configure and format it in NTFS or some other Windows format. As delivered, it’s formatted for use on a Mac.
