Hitachi Super Scan Elite 802 21” CRT Monitor VGA .22mm, 110KHz Horiz. 160Hz Ver.
Price: US $300.00
Up for sale is a Hitachi Superscan Elite 802 VGA monitor.
Some specs:- 21\" CRT tube- 0.22mm Dot Pitch- 110KHz Maximum Horizontal Frequency- 160Hz Maximum Vertical Refresh Rate
Here are some resolutions and refresh rates you can expect (please note you could theoretically force a higher resolution at a lower refresh rate, which I haven\'t tried).1600x1200 @ 80Hz1280x1024 @ 92Hz1024x768 @ 123Hz800x600 @ 155Hz640x480 @ 160Hz
The picture quality is still fantastic on this monitor. The geometry is excellent and the contrast gets bright enough to comfortably use in a lit room. However the brightness of the tube has probably degraded a bit since it was new, when I use the monitor I keep the contrast setting between 70 and 100 (maximum). The tube also doesn\'t have any noticeable scratches!
This monitor is cosmetically in poor shape:
- Yellowed plastic case from age- Bezel on the bottom left corner was cracked- Bezel on the top left corner has a deep gouge
One other quirk about this monitor is that the buttons under the display can be finicky. A handful of buttons only work when you press firmly (most notably the contrast \"+\" button). Only one button straight up didn\'t work during my testing, which was the \"H MOIRE/ H. M. ON\" button. Luckily as I tested this monitor with many different applications and resolutions, I never needed to use the \"H MOIRE/ H. M. ON\" button. Horizontal/Vertical size and position as well as corner adjustments were possible, and the \"Store\" button is used for saving the geometry setting for that specific resolution so you don\'t need to readjust geometry every time you change resolutions.
Please note this is a 31KHz monitor, so the lowest resolution is 640x480 @ 60Hz, you can\'t output 15KHz signals like 240p and 480i. Some of the retro game screenshots I\'ve shared used 480p with artificial scanlines.
