Product description The World's Finest Handmade, Tree-free Computer Paper

An Honored Tradition - Handcrafted in the Himalayas and used anciently for sacred texts, Lokta paper has been a staple of Nepalese artisans for centuries.

Sustainable Tree-Free Paper - The paper is made from Lokta bushes which grow on the southern slopes of the Nepali Himalayas between 5,250 and 13,000 feet. When properly cut, the bushes can produce three to eight new, fast-growing shoots making Lokta paper one of the most sustainable, non-tree papers.

Handmade Paper Crafting - Also called Nepali Paper, Lokta paper is used for many official Nepali government documents. Lokta fibers are "cooked" in vats to soften and create a pulp that is spread over wood-framed screens and set to dry in the Himalayan sun. The fine texture from the screens can be seen and felt in the finished product adding to the beauty and uniqueness of the paper.

Great for Projects - Use the paper for printing or in craft and art projects needing a special touch. Lokta paper is acid-free and is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest hand-made papers.

For the Eco-Conscious - Lokta bushes are not destroyed when harvested. A good cut from a harvested bush can regrow new shoots that can reach full height (nearly 15 feet) in about 5 years.

For the Modern User - Our Lokta Computer paper measures the standard 8.5 x 11 inches and is designed for inkjet and laser printers. The small pack has 25 sheets.

For Creatives - The decorative paper can also be used in crafts, scrapbooking, origami and other fun and creative projects. Use yours to create something meaningful or give extra meaning to printed projects. Thank you for supporting Himalayan artisans preserving the tradition of Lokta paper making.

For the History Lover - The oldest surviving Lokta paper is a religious text, a copy of the Karanya Buha Sutra Buddhist text estimated to be 1,000 to 1,900 years old. Lokta paper artisans create the paper today following a tradition of centuries of paper making in the Himalayas of Nepal.

For the One-of-a-Kind - Lokta paper has a beautiful texture containing natural flecks from the bush. Each page is unique with its own characteristic patterns and texture due to the special handcrafting process.

• HANDMADE PRINTER PAPER: 25 Sheets of 8 1/2 by 11 inches, Non-tree Vintage Paper made from the Lokta bush grown in the high altitude of the Himalayan Mountains.
• VEGETABLE-DYED PAPER: The light green color is derived from a natural vegetable dye using the small sarne leaf.
• COMPUTER PAPER: For inkjet and laser printers, or for use in crafts, origami, or scrapbooking, the pages contain natural flecks from the lokta bark and a unique “screened” texture on the side used to make the paper and the other, a natural texture.
• SUN-KISSED IN THE HIMALAYAS: Lokta bush strips are cooked into a mash and then spread by hand over boxed screens and set to dry on the Himalayan Mountainside. This process forms the one-of-a-kind Lokta paper.
• HAND-CRAFTED IN NEPAL: Supports Nepalese artisans and preserves a 1,000-year-old Nepalese tradition of paper making by hand.
