Condition:- As this machine approaches 25 years old, there are few things to keep in mind. The old hard drive has been replaced and upgraded to a 128GB SSD for better performance and reliability. The original RAM has been upgraded to 1 GB, in a 2 x 512MB stick configuration for optimal performance. The factory thermal compound has been replaced and upgraded to improve heat transfer between the CPU and heatsink, and a full interior clean has been conducted to ensure the machine is free of any dust or debris that may impede cooling performance. The CMOS "clock battery" has been replaced, which should enable the machine to keep the time and eliminate the annoying "date/time" error upon startup that is so common on these older machines.- Windows XP has been installed from the CD-ROM drive, and has been updated via Legacy Update. All drivers from Dell have been installed as well. The speakers work well, although they don't sound as impressive as they would have back in 2002! There are some signs of wear on the keyboard and palmrest area, and some minor scuffs on the lid of the computer.- The display is in great condition overall and is free of cracks. Has one original battery, which DOES hold a charge. Includes a3.5-inch 1.44MB floppy drive for the other bay slot.- The included ZyXelWi-Fi card has proper drivers installed, and detects plenty of networks in range. Due to the age of the device, modern Wi-Fi password encryption is not supported, and it will therefore not connect to any of our networks to test. It should connect to a network with older security settings (i.e. WEP/WPA, or no password), although we do not have any way to test this.- Please keep in mind that this is an old machine. While every effort has certainly been made to ensure the accuracy of the listing and outlining known issues on this device, we cannot guarantee that there are no other issues with the device, and it is being sold without any warranty as a result.
