Travel straight back to 2004 and the absolute golden era of early-2000s portable computing with an authentic, wonderfully preserved mobile time capsule: an original Dell Inspiron 1000 (Model PP08S) 14.1" 4:3 Aspect Ratio Notebook PC running its factory-original Windows XP Home Edition installation!

Having the original factory operating system installation makes this machine exceptionally desirable for collectors, archivists, and retro enthusiasts: all proprietary Dell SiS M661MX chipset drivers, Mirage graphics acceleration, audio codecs, touchpad controls, and power management profiles are completely native and fully configured out of the box—with zero missing driver yellow exclamation marks!

Finished in Dell’s durable textured matte-black chassis with front-facing stereo speaker grilles, tactile keyboard deck, and classic squarish lines, the Inspiron 1000 represents pure early-XP portable utility. Powered by an authentic Mobile Intel Celeron processor running at 2.20GHz (2.19 GHz reported, Northwood architecture, 256KB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB), 224MB of RAM (256MB installed with 32MB allocated to onboard video memory), and an internal 40GB Ultra ATA IDE hard drive (37.2 GB formatted NTFS C: partition with over 18.3 GB of free space), this notebook boots cleanly and swiftly into an authentic installation of Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002, Service Pack 2) complete with the iconic embossed Dell logo wallpaper!

Condition Notes

• Functional Condition: 100% bench-tested and fully operational. Boots cleanly and swiftly into its original factory installation of Windows XP Home Edition SP2 with all native Dell/SiS drivers and system utilities verified. The Mobile Intel Celeron 2.20GHz processor runs cool and responsive, memory tests healthy, and the 40GB IDE hard drive reads and writes cleanly with a healthy NTFS partition structure. The 14.1" 4:3 display is bright, clear, and evenly illuminated with rich contrast. Keyboard keys, touchpad, USB ports, display output, audio jacks, and the combo optical drive function properly. Please note: As with all retro laptops, vintage lithium-ion battery cells degrade over time; batteries may not hold much of a charge anymore. The system operates reliably and smoothly when powered via the included AC power adapter.

• Cosmetic Condition: Great vintage condition overall. The textured matte-black outer casing, display hinges, and keyboard deck are structurally solid with sturdy hinge tension and no cracked chassis plastic. Shows light, normal cosmetic surface marks, faint edge wear, and minor hairline scuffs consistent with careful home/office use and vintage age. The 14.1" display glass is clean and free of cracks. Original Dell emblem, interior lettering, rear service tag barcode label (G1YHL41), and underside regulatory sticker remain intact and fully legible. Please review the high-resolution photos for an exact look at physical condition.
