This adapter cable is designed to allow connecting conventional 3-pin and 4-pin PWM PC fans to the proprietary 5-pin fan header found on Dell and other OEM motherboards.
We advise the use of a fan which supports 4-pin PWM speed control as 3-pin fan voltage speed control is not supported by most of these systems.
Some systems may post a BIOS fan speed alert if the replacement fan operates at a significantly lower RPM. We advise the use of a fan which matches the original specifications.
