Up for sale is a Buffalo LinkStation Quad 4-Bay NAS, model LS-Q4.0TL/R5. We received this unit with no drives installed. We powered it on with the included power adapter (Sony-branded, but meets the power requirements for this unit). Once the unit powered on, the red light would flash 6 times repeatedly until unplugged. This may be normal behavior for a unit with no drives or may signify some other issue. From what we have read online, the OS for these units is stored on the drives, so with no drives installed, it would not be able to successfully boot up. We did install NAS Navigator on a PC, but it was not able to find the unit on the network. The unit may also have other issues beyond the missing drives that were not apparent during our limited testing.
In any event, because we were unable to get the unit to boot up successfully, we are listing the unit "For parts or not working" and it is being sold as-is with no returns accepted.
The unit does show some cosmetic wear such as scratches and scuff marks and dirt/dust. The internal fan does have some dust on the blades.
Includes the LS-Q4.0TL/R5 unit with all 4 drive caddies (does not include screws), front magnetic cover, Sony-branded AC power adapter, and a NEMA 5-15P to C5 power cord. No drives or other items are included. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you will receive.
