Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra ISA Card Yamaha OPL3 YMF262 Packard Bell 1150
Price: US $44.99
Aztech Sound Galaxy Nova 16 Extra, the 16-bit ISA sound card Packard Bell shipped in the Plus 1150 multimedia systems. FCC ID I38-MMSN811, made in Singapore, board revision Y1.07, with chip date codes from the first half of 1994. FM synthesis comes from a genuine Yamaha YMF262-M OPL3 - the real Yamaha part, not a clone - paired with a Crystal CS4231-KL codec and a Philips TDA1517 amplifier. The bracket carries a DB15 game/MIDI port and four audio jacks. Onboard are MIDI, modem and aux headers plus three proprietary CD-ROM interfaces silkscreened for Panasonic CR-5XX, Mitsumi and Sony drives, which is what makes these cards useful in a period-correct 486 build. Jumpers select EEPROM or software configuration, base address 22XH or 24XH, and condenser or carbon microphone input. Note that digital audio on this generation is Sound Blaster 2.0 level and mono; the stereo OPL3 music is the draw here, not stereo digital sound.Untested. Sold as the bare card only, with no box, cables, driver disks or software. Packard Bell's original tamper labels are still on three chips and have been left in place. Please review all photos and verify compatibility with your system before ordering.
