The pad underneath is the Scabbard II XXL. What isparticular to this edition is the TAKES THE KEYBOARD AS 900 x 400 x 3 mm
That is desk-scale. Keyboard, mouse, headset and alaptop all sit on it, which means the whole workingsurface has the same friction and the deskunderneath is can spill a drink on it.
ASUS rate the surface at AATCC Grade 100 for water resistance, under atriple-protection coating that repels water, oil and dust. A drink knockedover wipes off rather than soaking in.
Anyone who has destroyed a cloth pad with a coffee understands why that isthe specification ASUS lead with.
The same coating does the other job: ASUS state the surface is about 1.5times smoother than ordinary woven cloth, which is what a mouse sensoractually tracks on. Smooth enough to glide, with enough texture to stop.
3 mm thick - slight cushioning, without the wrist elevation a thick padgives.
The edge stitching is narrow and low-profile, about 12% thinner thanconventional stitched edges. On a pad this size, the edge is where yourforearm rests all day, and a thick stitched edge is felt.
It is also what stops the pad fraying, which is how cloth pads end theirlives.

A pad this size ships rolled, and it will hold the curl for a while.
Lay it flat with the corners weighted - books work - for a day or two. Donot iron it and do not heat it.
CLEANINGThe coating repels water and oil, so most marks wipe off with a dampcloth.
For a proper clean: cool water, mild soap, no detergent with bleach, andair dry flat. Never a washing machine on a hot cycle or a tumble dryer -the rubber base delaminates.
