You cannot upgrade MacOS version using this NVMe directly. if you want to ugprade your MacOS, use your original Apple SSD and upgrade the MacOS version first. Then swap the original one to new NVMe SSD. After that install MacOS again using the New NVMe SSD.
The reason for this requirement is that the EFI firmware on your system is outdated. In order to update the firmware, you need to install the new macOS using the original Apple SSD. This is the only way to upgrade the firmware.
If you're currently using MacOS 12 Monterey, you don't have to worry about all of these crazy requirements.
Which OS Version should I select?
If you're CURRENTLY running lower than MacOS 10.15 Catalina, please select OS to 10.13 High Sierra.
If you're CURRENTLY running MacOS 10.15 Catalina, please select OS to 10.15 Catalina or 10.13 High Sierra
If you're CURRENTLY running MacOS 12.x Monterey, You can select any OS version you'd prefer.

- sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 standby 0
- sudo pmset autopoweroff 0
