• Open the cartridge access door on your inkjet printer.
• Remove the protective seal and tape from each new cartridge.
• Insert each cartridge into its corresponding color slot until it clicks into place.
• Close the cartridge access door; the printer will recognize the new cartridges automatically.
• If prompted, select "Yes" to confirm use of non-Epson cartridges.🔧 Firmware Notice:
• Epson periodically releases firmware updates that may cause aftermarket cartridges to no longer be recognized. To continue using compatible cartridges, we recommend turning OFF automatic firmware updates on your printer before installation.
• Upon installation, your Epson printer may display "Non-Genuine Cartridge", "Cartridge Not Recognized" or similar prompts. This is completely normal for compatible 312XL cartridges — simply press OK / Continue / Accept to proceed and start printing.
• If a cartridge is not recognized, remove it and reinstall it firmly until it clicks. Do not touch the chip contacts on the cartridge.
• The ink level indicator may differ from genuine cartridges — this is expected with non-OEM chips and does not affect print quality. Please verify your exact model is one of the Expression Photo XP-8500 / XP-8600 / XP-8700 series printers listed above before After sales service:
