1. Separate the data and power connections from the SATA hard drive interface. Connect the data cable to the motherboard's SATA port and the power cable to the power supply. This allows direct connection. For SATA motherboards, some models require setting the BIOS to AHCI mode before use (select RAID mode if configuring RAID).
2. Separate the data and power connections from the SAS hard drive interface. Connect to the motherboard's SAS interface (SFF-8482) and power cable for direct connection. Friendly reminder: This product cannot be used to connect SAS hard drives to standard motherboard SATA ports, nor is such a cable available. SAS interfaces require dedicated chipset support, which cannot be achieved via cabling alone. Please verify this carefully (unless your SAS hard drive supports SATA mode, or your SATA motherboard incorporates SAS chipset support).
