Retro Gaming - Hackintosh dual boot setup for HP Z600 & Z800 systems.
Price: US $154.00
Finally figured out what to do with the left over space on the boot disk so now an HP Z600/Z800 can be used for Retro Gaming too with Batocera installed. Obviously a workstation takes up a bit more space than a Raspberry Pi, but is also much more functional and powerful.
This listing is for a plug & play card setup HP Z600 or HPZ800 and is preconfigured with Mac OS Monterey or to dual boot with Batocera Linux for Retro gaming. The setup is onDual M.2 PCIE Adapter for SATA and NVMe SSD, The default configuration has enough space to have an additional 16 GB for Batocera and Retro Gaming.
Special considerations:
  • Cards are custom made and all hardware may not be in stock at the time of purchase so they will be shipped as soon as they can be setup.
  • Includes only those items that can be selected from the pull down menus.
  • The card only includes Batocera for retro gaming if you want it.
  • macOS boots from the SSD and loads from the M.2 NVME.
  • Batocera boots and runs off of only the M.2 SSD.
  • The system is capable of accommodatingTerabytesof data with raid optimizations.
  • Contact me if you have questions about the setup, configuration options or contents.
Simply install the card and configure the system to boot from it and you will be ready to go!!
The only other component needed is a Monterey compatible Video card which isn't provided. Batocera should work with any video card that works with Monterey.
There is no need for physical hard disks or SSD disks running from the slower SATA controllers if you choose not to use them.
NVME loads faster than a SSD attached to the SATA/SAS 3 controller.
NVMe can deliver sustained read-write speed of 2000MB per second, which is way faster than the SATA SSD
All you have to have is a HP Z600 or Z800 and a compatibleMontereyVideo card and there is no shortage of inexpensive systems on . Video cards on the other hand aren't cheap butMontereywill with some relatively inexpensive ones such as a Nvidia Geoforce GT 710 newer and any number of Radeon cards.
The image used in this listing is not the actual NVME drive that comes with the card and NVME and SSD drives will vary.
A basic compatible USB wireless adapter can be included that will work with the system.
