RS232 Serial to WiFi Modem using ESP8266. Use old DOS/Windows PCs on WiFi -Built
This is the pre-assembled version shown in photo 1.
It includes a 3.5" 720k MSDOS 3.3 boot floppy disc with the required software for the board.(Slip driver, telnet, ping, FTP, Netdrive and Web browser)Also includes download links for firmware, programming, instructions and DOS tools.
This design uses common parts:Wemos D1 Mini ESP8266 board5v to 3.3v level shifter board
MAX232N chip4x 1uf 50V capacitors16 pin DIP IC socket9 way D female plug
Tested with Amstrad PC2086 8086 processor 640k 720k floppy and more modern PC with a 9 pin serial port.Needs to be powered from a generic 5V USB wall adapter or power bank.Should work fine with any XT/286 or 386 system with a serial port.
Can also be reflashed with The OldNet firmware for most other computers with an RS232 port and terminal software.
