MacBook Pro A1278 Laptop (2011) - Ubuntu Linux v23.04 (64-bit) - NICE + EXTRAS
The MacBook Pro A1278 Laptop (2011) with Ubuntu Linux v23.04 (64-bit) is a sleek and powerful device perfect for casual computing tasks. Featuring an Intel Core i5 2nd Gen processor with a 2.30 GHz speed, 4 GB RAM, and a 320 GB HDD, this laptop offers smooth performance for everyday use. The 13.3-inch screen with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 provides a clear and vibrant display, while the Intel HD Graphics 3000 ensures crisp visuals. With features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a backlit keyboard, this MacBook Pro is a versatile and reliable option for your basic computing needs.
This MacBook is in very nice condition. We see very minor wear on the unit itself - a few small dings and scratches. We tested the laptop and all seems well except for one thing - the 8X DVD-R drive does NOT function properly. When you try to insert a disc, the drive just spits the disc right back out. We opted not to repair or replace the drive before we prepared for this sale because, honestly, who cares? Most people do not use CD/DVD drives anymore unless you are vintage PC dorks like us! To be clear - THE SLOT-LOADING DVD-R DRIVE DOES NOT WORK.
The battery seems pretty darn good. It charges all the way to 100% (see photo), and we ran the laptop on the battery for about 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Included in this sale is a Printed SPEC Sheet, along with a sheet explaining the User I.D. and Password for this laptop. One of the main security features of Ubuntu Linux is that you need a password to make many changes to the OS (even if you are the Administrator), or when you go to install something. Although the laptop is currently set to boot up without needing the password, a Password IS needed to install/make changes and/or come out of sleep mode. Also, a digital copy of the User's Manual is included in the Documents folder.
Also included in this sale is the original Apple AC Power Adapter/Charger, a cool Sony VAIO USB Mouse that kinda' matches, a pair of Corded Earbuds (new old stock, open box), and a brand new 64 GB Flash Drive.
Sorry, the original box, hard copy of the user's manual/docs, MAC OS, or additional power cord are NOT included.
This MacBook Pro would be a great everyday machine for email, Web browsing, and more. Let's keep it out of recycling or a landfill!
