I'm letting go of my test machines for hardware development used many years ago. The unit has an early mainboard from 1982: ASSY 326298 REV A. It has been cleaned and refurbished and tested with these features:
- Major IC's have been socketed for easy replacement!
- SID & PLA chips have heat sinks added for longevity.
- New electrolytic capacitors because 40 year old electrolytics dry out and will fail, causing power rippling/instability.
- Comes with a spare PLA replacement I developed 20 years ago - PLAmate.
Main unit/keyboard only: no display, manuals, cables, cartridge or power supply included.The PC has Passed all diagnostic tests, including audio. Mainboard video jack is 5 pin type!Unit pictured is what you will receive.
A Note about original Power supply "bricks" in the USA - Warning: Do NOT use an original, sealed power supply with your C64. They are ticking time bombs which will eventually damage your vintage PC! Sadly, these supplies do not have screws, are potted in resin and are unserviceable. The electrolytic capacitors in the power supply are past age and will fail, typically allowing the primary voltage to go above 5VDC, silently damaging the SID and PLA. These chips must never be fed more than 5V! Save some heart ache and source a new power supply or find a refurbished unit whose casing has screws.
