8 bay NAS case with hotswap mini-ITX. includes 270 watt power supply
Price: US $235.00
Please read the full listing before purchase. Ask questions if you are not sure of something. You are looking at one of the only 8 bay NAS case on the American market that supports deep ITX motherboards with some room to spare. That means this case will support the Asrock Rack SP3 EPYC deep ITX boardROMED4ID-2T. I have done the measurement myself and it fits with about an inch to spare. Making this a tiny powerhouse of a system with a CPU like the EPYC 7D13, 7D12, and 7452. Paired with a 7D13 or 7D12 this system will sip energy while it is idle.
I am working on bringing a 12gb model to market so 12gb SAS SSD can be used. There is talks of a trimode version supporting NVME, 12GB SAS and 6gb SATA also so stay tuned. I am currently the only person selling this in the American market.
The features supported by this case are:-This listing includes a 270 watt FSP power supply.-Deep ITX boards fully supported. Note that some sellers are calling MicroATX boards deep ITX. This is erroneous. The AsrockROMED4ID-2T is a true deep ITX board.-USB3.0 x 2 on the front panel.-Drive trays which accept both 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch drives.-Dual 80mm fixed speed 2500 rpm (can be upgraded to PWM 4 pin fans with a fan controller.)-Supports a single 2.5 inch SSD mounted internally on the side of the drive cage. I use this spot for a boot drive in the complete systems I sell.-Supports 6gbps SAS and SATA drives-Supports Flex ATX power supply. Please check carefully on the length of any Flex ATX PSU you are considering. This case will not support the longer Flex PSU. Standard Flex ATX PSU supported.- Case dimensions: L260mm * W205mm * H320mm
Ask me about upgraded fans. The cost for upgraded PWM 3000 RPM fans and a fan controller is slightly more. The upgraded fans can be throttled down to 100 RPM (I wouldn't recommend this) or up to a deafening 3000 RPM. I can dial in the optimal speed that is not too loud or too slow to be effective before shipment.
A note on drive selection and 6G. Currently there are no spinning disk which fully saturate a 6G interface. The fastest spinning drives are 12g spinning disk at 300mb/sec. For all spinning disk a 6G backplane is perfectly fine. 12G matters for devices with over 600mb/sec throughput like 12GB SAS SSD drives. For all other SATA and SAS drives including 12G spinning disk 6G is adequate.
Consult me with your parts list before purchase. I cannot accept returns from buyers who use a hardware configuration which isn't supported. The cases are high quality and I have a direct relationship with the manufacturer. I will provide support after the sale.
For those of you trying to use motherboards with only SATA ports: You cannot use a SAS (SFF-8087) to (4) SATA breakout cable with the backplane. You have to purchase a reverse breakout cable. When searching for the correct cable you must search "reverse breakout cable".
The backplane uses two SF8087 connectors. Your best option for connectivity is a SAS raid controller or an HBA with the same type of ports. A suitable raid controller will need to have a have a fan embedded in the heatsink to be used in this case. Enterprise SAS raid controllers generally require 200 CFM continuous airflow. You can get around this by purchasing an Adaptec ASR-6805, ASR-71605, ASR-8805 or an ASR-81605. You can mount a 40mm fan on all of these raid cards using the two holes in the heatsink and m3 screws. The fans and screws are sold on Amazon. This case will support one of these cards with up to a 10mm thick 40mm fan. SAS HBA without raid function do not require active cooling.
