Laser 50 Portable Computer
After getting aVTech Laser 128Apple IIc-compatible computer and seeing the quality, we came upon someone selling twoLaser 50personal computers at a very good price & so we purchased them. Wound up that this one appears to be brand new while the other one was in outstanding but used condition. Never did anything with these, and so they sat in a closet for a number of years.
TheLaser 50personal computer is specially geared for learning the BASIC programming language as well as serving as a portable computer. VTech bills theLaser 50as a portable computer with scientific calculation functions. It features a dot matrix LCD panel, cassette interface and printer interface bus, plus a full size full-travel keyboard. TheLaser 50uses 4 AA batteries. The manual is in large part a tutorial on programming in BASIC.
The package has been opened to check the contents as well as to photograph the unit for this listing. TheLaser 50weight 22.5 ounces without batteries, has a carrying handle built-in, and measures 10.75" x 6.5" x < 2.0", making it ideal for travel and students.
This unit is untested beyond putting AA batteries in, turning the unit ON and testing the keyboard to ensure all keys function. The display was, in our opinion, light and we don't know (1) if our batteries were fresh or not, (2) if there is a way to change contrast, (3) nor just how bright such LCD displays should be. Compared to the otherLaser 50(that is not for sale), the display was similar in brightness and contrast.
