Supermicro X9DRH-7F Rev 1.02 v2 CPU TESTED IT mode LSI SAS2308 firmware for ZFS
Price: US $223.88

Supermicro X9DRH-7F Rev 1.02 with IT mode LSI SAS2308. Tested with report.

Listed for sale here is a Supermicro X9DRH-7F motherboard REV 1.02 (supports E5-2600v2 Ivy Bridge Xeons), with the onboard LSI SAS2208 RAID controller cross-flashed to LSI SAS2308 IT mode firmware.

Included in this sale are:

  1. Supermicro X9DRH-7F motherboard (REV 1.02)
  2. onboard LSI controller cross-flashed to LSI SAS2308 IT mode firmware P20.
  3. Out-of-band BIOS update via IPMI web interface license included.

System BIOS, BMC/IPMI firmware, and SAS controller firmware have all been updated. Specific details will be included in the testing report.

This motherboard is great for NAS or Hypervisor/Virtualization or hyper-converged server build.

It has been modified with LSI SAS2308 IT mode firmware version P20 cross-flashed on the on-board LSI SAS2208 SAS RAID controller. This means, it DOES NOT HAVE RAID FUNCTION, but is optimized for software RAID technologies such as ZFS, UNRAID, Storage Spaces, etc.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Refurbishing process

The motherboard is first cleaned with a 70PSI air gun to remove any and all dust that have accumulated during its previous use. Heatsinks are removed, and any thermal compound is cleaned off the CPUs, the LGA2011 brackets, and the heatsinks. At this point, the motherboard is ready for testing.

This motherboard will come with a full report from the testing process. Testing is done with 2 CPUs and 16x16GB DIMMs with the board installed in a Supermicro server chassis. Every PCI-E slot is tested with a LSI 9207-8i card. The onboard SAS controller is tested with 8x SAS lanes connected to a direct attached backplane. All ethernet ports are tested by configuring IP on the interface and running network benchmark to another system. All fan headers are tested where possible. All IPMI sensors are checked. The dedicated IPMI network port is tested. If the battery voltage is less than 3.0V, the CMOS battery is replaced (this will be noted in the testing report). USB ports are tested where possible. Items that did not get tested are marked as "N/T".

System BIOS, BMC/IPMI firmware, and on-board LSI SAS2308 firmware are all updated to the latest stable version available at the time of testing.

Finally, any BIOS passwords are cleared. The BMC/IPMI settings are reset to factory defaults and passwords are cleared and set to factory default.

No refurbishing and testing process is perfect, but I believe my process is among the most comprehensive that you will find on from any other seller. A photo copy of the test report is shown in the pictures, but if you'd like me to send you a copy, just contact me. Feel free to ask any questions about it.

How I Package Motherboards

Once the motherboard has completed and passed testing, next it gets packaged for shipping. Since I am a server builder myself, I've bought motherboards on before and have been dissatisfied with how other sellers ship motherboards. So, I will only ship motherboards the way I would want to receive them:

  1. First, the CPU sockets are covered with an official LGA2011 plastic socket protector. I will never ship a motherboard with the CPU pins unprotected, or just covered by cardboard.
  2. Second, the motherboard is sealed in an anti-static shielded bag, not the "pink" stuff, or just bubble wrap.
  3. Thirdly, the motherboard in the anti-static bag is placed on soft foam, and enclosed in a thick cardboard container. This provides a protected surface so that delicate SMD components do not get damaged, and the rigid cardboard container provide protection to the surface of the motherboard. The test report is attached to the outside of this "inner" box.
  4. Fourth, the "inner" box is placed in a second larger box with cushioning material. Finally, the board is then ready for shipment.

Why buy from the Art of Server?
  • I can provide technical support if you have problems
  • I'm aware of counterfeit products on the market, and I make every effort to ensure that what I sell are not counterfeit.
  • I ship fast, usually same or next business day!
  • I have a YouTube channel with many helpful videos. Look for "Art of Server" on YouTube. (sorry, I can't link per policy)
  • I fully test the HBAs I sell. See my testing process on YouTube.
  • I clean the server components I sell. You will not receive something covered in dust, or have unwanted stickers/labels, etc.
  • I ship electronic parts in proper anti-static bags (not the pink stuff) with bubble wrap or foam protection where needed.
  • I am a server enthusiast and IT professional that has worked with many brands of servers and have also built custom servers, not just someone selling computer parts. I love what I do! :-)
  • I've used ZFS for many years. I'm familiar with ZFS on Linux, FreeNAS, and many of the technologies commonly used by other enthusiasts.
  • I love cats. How can you deny my cute, cuddly charm?
Who is the Art of Server?I'm a cat lover and a server enthusiast. I've operated my own rack of servers at home for almost 20 years. I've helped many friends and strangers with their servers. So, one day, I thought why not offer pre-flashed IT mode / HBA SAS controllers on to help others with their server build? Since then, I've also added other "interesting" items to my store that I think other server/computer enthusiasts would like. Oh, and I love cats. :-)
