Here is a system De;; built and sold as a business PC in January of 1999. This month I replaced the hard drive and CMOS battery, and reinstalled WIndows 98 SE with all necessary drivers reinstalled and tested all hardware. It is now ready to install your favorite applications, from floppy diskette, CD, or from a USB flash drive.This is one of Dell's last large beige tower systems. With a CD ROM, a 100MB Zip drive, floppy drive and hard drive installed there is still one empty 3.5" hard drive bay and one available exposed 5.25" drive bay.The heart of the system is a proprietary motherboard with Intel's 440BX chipset. It supports Slot 1 Celeron, Pentium II or Pentium III CPUs with front side bus speeds of 66 or 100 MHz, up to a 600 MHz Pentium III. I include a 450 MHz Intel Pentium II processor with a 100 MHz FSB and 512KB cache. There are three 168-pin sockets for SDRAM, one of which is filled with a 128MB DIMM. Maximum RAM is 768MB.
The motherboard includes connectors for two PS/2 ports, two USB 1.1 ports, a parallel port and a DB9 serial port. The motherboard also includes an ATI 3D Rage Pro with 8MB of SGRAM. Dell also included a 3Com 10/100 ethernet adapter and a Crystal sound chip on the motherboard. Perpendicular to the motherboard is an easily removable tray with seven expansion slots: three PCI, three ISA, plus one that can be either. A 3Com 3CP5610 modem is in one of the PCI slots.
